No-exam life insurance
Who qualifies for rapid approval, how the process works, and what happens if you don't qualify.
Many carriers now offer accelerated underwriting: for applicants within certain age and coverage limits, they reach a decision using the application, pharmacy records, driving records, and other data instead of scheduling a medical exam. Many decisions arrive the same day. Each quote on this site tells you whether the carrier requires an exam, possibly requires one, or doesn't require one for that product.
What it changes
Fast underwriting doesn't skip underwriting. Your answers get verified, and a policy written based on incorrect information can be contested during the initial two years. If the carrier's independent data raises flags, they can still require an exam or lab work; you decide at that point whether to proceed.
Who tends to qualify
Typically younger applicants (usually under 60) seeking amounts below the carrier's accelerated limits, with no major health concerns and no tobacco use within the past year or longer. Some carriers accept blood work results from a recent doctor visit instead of a new exam.
If the carrier requires an exam, it typically involves a 20- to 30-minute appointment with a paramedical examiner, conducted at a location of your choice (your home or office in the La Habra area) at no expense to you. For many healthy applicants, exam results improve the rate class, making an exam a positive outcome.
